It starts with Acknowledging the truth
The truth is we are all sinners.
Take a look at the 10 commandments, It was a guidance God gave to his people in the Old Testament that helped them know how to serve God and how they should live with each other. Breaking one of these commandments resulted in committing sin before God. In order for them to be purified before God they had to sacrifice animals to pay their sins.
We all have lied, cheated, lusted, hated, stolen and Idolized people or items at some point. By God’s standard we fall short. We would also be in the same situation as the people in the Old Testament. In need to pay for the price of sin… What is the price? Death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” - Romans 6:23
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”Romans 3:23
When sin entered this world all of mankind was affected. What are we able to do about this?
Beleive in his son Jesus Christ.
God came here on earth as a person named Jesus to live the perfect life that we could not simply live. He did not commit one sin yet He died on the cross for you and I to pay the debt for our past, present and future sin plus the gift of everlasting life. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice whose blood was shed on the cross. Jesus paved the way of forgiveness and salvation for you and I so that we did not have to pay the wage of sin! But it DID NOT STOP THERE:) On the third day of his death Jesus rose form the grave. Literally resurrected. He was able to prove that He had the authority even over death!
He took our sins on the cross, paid for our sins by dying on the cross and resurrected as he said he would making a way for you and I to have salvation and everlasting life.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” - John 3:16-17
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit - 1 Peter 3:18
Confess.
You now know where your stand and whom to believe in and what Jesus did for you. So what now? Ask God for forgiveness and confess in your belief in Him! Asking God for forgiveness with all your heart is important because it positions your heart in the right place before God. God is after ones heart so mean it! Confess out loud, Yes out loud that you believe in who Jesus is, that he paid the debt for your sins on the cross, resurrected on the third day and that you want his spirit to lead your life from this point forward. We want to emphasize Jesus did it for you so you can come to him as lost, broken, confused, unsure whatever it may be. You do not need to come to him perfect because you aren’t you simply say yes to Him. He will take care of the rest!
There is no salvation prayer but this is a guide for you to use when you give your heart to Jesus today. (Again the key is your genuine heart before God and vocalizing these words!)
“Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins and surrender my life. Wash me clean. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That he died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day for my Victory, I believe that in my heart and make confession with my mouth, the Jesus is my Savior and Lord.”
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” - Romans 10:9-10
What now?
Walk the Talk. How? Get baptized, read the bible and pray! Don’t worry, you won’t do it alone! The true and living God is a three-in-one person. There is no one else like Him! He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. All three persons are equally God. This truth is too hard for us to truly understand while we are here on Earth. We believe it because it is in God’s Word. Sometimes people use the word Trinity to describe God. Trinity means “three persons in one.
So when we accept Jesus in our hearts we receive His spirit The Holy Spirit. Who will help you understand what is ok and not ok before God, bring comfort, bring to remembrance and so much more. So remember He is with you at all times as your helper but you are responsible to maintain your walk. Easiest way is connecting to a local God fearing church. Ask Holy Spirit to lead you to the right church and give you the right community. A place where you can get baptized and where you will grow. This is a life journey and we promise you it is so worth it!
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” - John 14:26
“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” - Luke 11:13
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. - 2 Corinthians 3:17
